Folk artist Danė Motiejūnaitė Bokša

Exhibition "My Colorful Dreams"

Danė Motiejūnaitė Bokša was born on July 20, 1951 in the village of Jodkoniai, Anykščiai district, studied at the Adomynė eight-year school, then at the Anykščiai Jonas Biliūnas secondary school, graduating in 1969. She studied French at the Vilnius Pedagogical Institute. In 1971, she began flying as a stewardess, working in aviation for the rest of her life – 36 years. She had to retire due to disability caused by illness.

In 2011, thanks to Loreta Paulauskienė, the head of the Vilnius Region Union of People with Disabilities, she got into a painting plein air organized by folk artist Irena Zakharova. Having picked up a brush in her hands, she hasn’t let it go to this day. Since the artist’s possibilities for activity are very limited, she became a home-based artist. Now brushes, canvas, and oil are her best friends.

In 2013, the author's first personal exhibition was held at the Tezaurus art gallery. In 2014, Dane Motiejūnaitė Bokša was awarded the title of Folk Artist. Her works were exhibited at Republican exhibitions in Ukmergė, Trakai, personal exhibitions in Vilnius, Vilnius Karininkų Ramovė, Romeris University and elsewhere. Currently, an exhibition is taking place at the Pagramantis Regional Park Visitor Center. A total of 8 personal exhibitions have been exhibited.

The artist traveled a lot in her youth. The impressions of her travels, the sights she saw, her emotions, a piece of her soul - now this is reflected in her paintings.

The exhibition "My Colorful Dreams" is the tenth solo exhibition by Danė Motiejūnaitė Bokša. The author is particularly pleased to organize this anniversary exhibition in her childhood hometown, Adomynė, where she has many wonderful memories.
