The mound dates back from the 1st millennium BC to the beginning of the 1st millennium. It is located near the village of Bakšėnai, on the right bank of Pyvesa River. There was Nodiejiškiai burial mound (destroyed), dated from the the 2nd to the 5th centuries, next to Bakšėnai mound. The Lithuanian Institute of History conducted exploratory archaeological research from 1968 to 1969 and in 1990. Smooth and striated pottery, a bone gaff tip, brass jewelry, and millstones were found on the site of the mound. The finds are kept in the National Museum of Lithuania in Vilnius. The mound was included into the Register of Cultural Property in 1992, declared a cultural monument in 1998, and recognized as a cultural property protected by the state in 2005. The mound has been badly damaged by plowing.
