The mound is dated from the second half of the 1st millennium BC to the beginning of the 2nd millennium. It is located on the left bank of Kupa, surrounded by swamps. E. Grigalavičienė investigated the entire site of the mound from 1984 to 1985 and found a cultural layer up to 2 m thick, consisting of 3 horizons. The lower horizon is dated from the second half of the 1st millennium BC to the first centuries AD. Fragments of stone axes with holes for the handles, bone awls, arrows, spears and striated and smooth pottery were found in this horizon. Iron pins, buckles, needles, a cleaver and striated, smooth and rough pottery were found In the higher layer, which dates back to the III-V centuries. Iron knives, sickles, awls, an iron spearhead and rough, smooth and grinded pottery were found in an even higher layer, dated back to the 6th century. The mound was included in the Register of Cultural Property in 1997, declared a cultural monument in 1998 and recognized as protected by the state in 2005.
