Kupiškis Ethnographic Museum is located in the stonework building of a former parish school, built in 1823. It is the only museum in Lithuania established during World War II. There are permanent exhibitions in the museum. Here you can see not only the household of villagers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but also to feel their existence. The special attention is paid to the ancient traditions of Kupiškis weddings. Kupiškis Ethnographic Museum is proud of the collection of traditional Lithuanian clothes and accessories from the 19th century till the first half of the 20th century, which were gathered by the Glemžaitės sisters: Stefanija, Mikalina and Elvyra. In addition, almost 4000-year-old aurochs’ horns are stored in the Museum. They are the biggest aurochs’ horns found in Lithuania. All the stored material in collections of documents and printings of the Museum reflect activities of Kupiškis community. Currently the Museum carries out various educational activities, organizes art, folk art, photography and other exhibitions.
