Kupiškis Lagoon

Kupiškis Lagoon is the fourth largest artificial water body in Lithuania. In 1984 the artificial water body of area of 828 ha and about 25 km long was formed by damming the Lėvuo River. Kupiškis Lagoon is also known for its isles which have witty names: Mother-in-law's Tongue (there is a dendrological park on this isle) and Son-in-law's Shelter. Kupiškis Lagoon is a favourite recreation place of local people and guests. Every year various sports events are held here: “Lagoon Regatta”, an international powerboat racing competition, Lithuanian and international triathlon events, Lithuanian Beach Soccer Championship and others. Ice-Fishing Competition and summer festivals are held here too. There is a beach, 19 recreation areas, sports fields, parking lots, overwater bungalows, and several cozy cafes on site.
