Magazinas (in Arabic machzan, machāzin - storehouse of goods) - a reserve grain storehouse, where grain and seed stocks were stored in case of famine and failure of crops.
It is mentioned in the documents of 1822 that Subačius grain storehouse was suitable for storing rye and contained 4 barrels and 4 pūrai (dry measure equal to 2.04 bushels) of rye stocks. According to the data of 1838-1841, Subačius grain storehouse was built of round logs, with thatched roof, small, old and not suitable for reconstruction. The brick magazine of Subačius was mentioned in 1856: it was built from field stone, according to a typical project, and cost 1,000 rubles.
The Romanticism style building of Subačius grain storage was included in the Register of Cultural Properties in 1992, and recognized as protected by the state in 2005.
